Ezine advertising is quick and effective. There are literally thousands of ezines to advertise in potentially getting your ad seen my millions of readers. So what is the difference between and ad that sinks or an ad that swims in sales?

1. Headlines, Baby!
The FTC forbids headlines that contain false or misleading information, so saying, Make $1000 Dollars Daily! will not only get your ad rejected, but also it would probably keep any respectable ezine from getting through spam filters if they let it slide.

So what is plan B?

You need a headline that invokes emotion, but is truthful and on topic. I personally think the easiest emotion to trigger a response is curiosity So asking a question will do the trick.

For example: Want Ads that Work? evokes a mental response from you yes, I do want ads that work, what do I have to do?

Thats good, now I have your attention!

Now you try it. Ask a question as your headline. Do I want to know the answer?

2. Action words:
Getting viewers to react is a little like subliminal messaging. Through ad your language, you will need to guide them to check out your offer.

For example, this ad does very little to trigger a response to click on the ad:

Pet collars for sale
They are pink, yellow or blue
They fit any size pet.
I ship all order promptly
Contact info

Yawn. You wake? It is truthful, but it does not really make me want a pet collar.

Now try this:

Does Your Pet Get Noticed?
Show their style with XYZCollars.
Choose from a variety of colors and sizes.
Grab your order now!
Contact info

Can you see that each line begins with an action word, prompting them to react? Show, Choose, Grab, those subtle action phrases will guide the viewer to click on a link much more than the passive ad above.

Now take your ad and begin each line with an action word. Am I itching to react? I bet I am!

3. Variety:
This is the step that kind of matches Practice makes perfect. Develop the best ad you can and run it. If possible track your ad with an ad tracker on your URL (cli.gs) to monitor your response rate. Next time tweak it just a little. Maybe try a headline that has a good punch to it instead of the question:

Get Your Pet Noticed!
Show their style with XYZCollars.
Choose from a variety of colors and sizes.
Grab your order now!
Contact info

Do you see the subtle headline change? Run it again and track if it has a better or worse click through. If its better keep it! If its worse, then the first headline was the winner. Once you have an ad that pulls. Run it as often as you can. Most people react to ads theyve seen more than once.

I know Ive seen online ads that after Ive seen them enough, I just have to see what its about. Then you know its a killer ad!

The Ezine Ad Team is the easiest and most efficient way to participate in an Ezine Ad Co-op today. Focused on bringing quality, targeted ezines and advertisers together, we are a different kind of co-op.
  • Our ezines are always current and up to date. The ezines you see are still actively accepting advertisers. Publishers must update their subscriber details at least every 60 days or our system automatically removes them from view.
  • We allow the advertiser to choose which ezines they want to join based on category, budget and subscriber counts. By not grouping ezines togeter, both groups receive a targeted audience.
  • Memebers are in complete control of ads and ezines via our automated control panel.
See for yourself how easy it can be to grow your ezine list or run your ad in multiple targeted ezines.
