Ezine advertising is one of the most cost effective and reliable forms of online advertising available. It gives every online business owner the opportunity to promote their product or service for a fraction of the cost of other methods. If you can avoid the three pitfalls, your ad campaign is more likely to be successful. Here is what to look for: 1. Contact Method: Having a method of contact is a requirement of all ezine advertising. The buyer will not know how to reach you without it. In most cases a URL to a website or an email address is used. A URL is very effective because you can drive traffic to your site, and you can also use an ad tracker to test how often your link has been clicked. An email address can be used instead of an URL, but this needs to be handled much more carefully. An email address may lend a more personal touch to your ad, so some advertisers prefer this method, but choosing what email account you use is crucial. Because some ezine ads are posted online, I never recommend using your main business email in ezine advertising. This address WILL be picked up by email harvest software and your email account will forever be bombarded with unsolicited email. To combat this, set up a temporary email account that specifically handles your ads so that you can keep your ad results away from your daily business email. If this email address gets too exposed, you can delete it and create a new one. You can also set up an autoresponder to immediately send out information on your ad but your normal business correspondence will not be affected by the autoreponder. 2. Outrageous Headlines: Earnings claims or promises of easy money are against FTC regulations and it is a quick way to get your ad rejected by any respectable ezine publisher. Never include dollar amounts or use exaggerated words of potential dollars to be made. Stick to truthful headlines that cause the reader to be curious about your ad. Ask the reader a question or use strong actions words to gain their involvement. 3. Affiliate Ads Affiliate are some times a doubled edged sword. They can help you by having all the work done for you, but they can harm you by diluting the power of the ad. Having so many others running it may just make it less effective. If you are just starting out in advertising, by all means use the materials provided, but as you branch out into your own business, I suggest you take their provided ad and add a personal touch. Maybe change a line or two to make the viewer take pause when they see the slightly different approach. This may drive more clicks to your ad. These minor hurdles in ezine advertising are easy to overcome and create a stronger ad campaign for you. Take a few minutes to review the ads you are running now and keep these tips in mind the next time you run an only ad to ensure a smooth and successful outcome. ©2009 Ezine Ad Team, All Rights Reserved.
