Even with the most informative content, all publishers know that without a responsive and good-sized opt-in list, your material seems to just float off into cyber space. Growing a responsive list is a top priority for publishers and it can be done quite easily if you follow these easy steps to join an ad co-op: 1. Research the Programs: There are many ezine ad co-ops available and each has its own rules and terms of service. Look into these rules and make sure that they are clearly placed for both publishers and advertisers to see. Make sure the site is up to date and that it looks as if all participants adhere to the rules. The quality of the subscriber you gain can differ with each program. 2. Join the Ad Co-op that Meets Your Needs: Most co-ops are continually looking for new ezines to add to their program. A clearly placed signup link or form should be visible on their site. The signup process usually involves adding the name of your ezine as well as how many subscribers you have, how the advertiser can subscribe to your ezine and a short description. Each program is different in the information they require, but having these few details prepared will get you started in most advertising co-ops. 3. Accept the Subscriber: After you are enrolled and accepted into the program, your list building will begin. It is often how you handle these new members that will determine if your list continues to grow or if you will lose members as soon as their ad has run. If your ezine, or group of ezines (depending on the program) is selected, a new subscriber will be sent to you as well as their classified ad that you agreed to run. Be aware that the subscriber has paid a fee to join your ezine and submit their ad. Please respond with a confirmation of their subscription as well as a scheduled run date for their ad so they can stay informed. 4. Run the Ad: Keeping up with the ads submitted through the co-op is your main responsibility. Depending on how the program is run, you may get many ads. Have a procedure in place to run ads. Either designate a section in your ezine, or run a special edition dedicated to ads. Placing their ad in a visible spot in your ezine will increase the chances of the classified ad performing well for them in your ezine. This will help you promote your ad rates and hopefully gain a paying customer. 5. Follow Up with your Subscriber: Once their ad has been run, the subscriber can opt out at any time. (If they opt out before your ad is run, you do not have to run their ad.) Communicate with them either directly or through your ezine to encourage feedback and comments on how to improve their experience with your publication. This further communication will keep your list members engaged and less likely to leave your ezine. List building is a mandatory part of running an ezine. It can be made much easier with the help of a quality ad co-op to bring in subscribers. Choose a program that will work together with you to grow a valuable and responsive ezine audience and you will have new subscriber added to your list for years to come. ©2009 Ezine Ad Team, All Rights Reserved.
