Ezine ad co-ops help ezine owners grow their opt-in lists faster by allowing them to swap classified ad space for subscribers joining their list. As a new ezine publisher, you may be wondering what steps you need to take to get accepted into a co-op. With a few simple steps you can feel more confident that your ezine will be quickly accepted into a program and ready to receive new subscribers.

1. Determine How You Enroll New Subscribers:
Do your subscribers need to be added to your ezine via a web form? Or perhaps an email sent to a specific email address will enroll the new member to your list. Determine if you are allowed to manually import members into a database. Your subscriber enrollment method will be a deciding factor to which ad co-ops you can join. Some ad co-ops have specific rules to as how new subscribers can be added. (Such as only allowing manual enrollment of your subscribers - versus some co-ops that accept automatic signups).* Understanding if your enrollment method matches up with how the program requirements will make a smooth transition for you into the program.

2. Delivery and Confirmation of Ads:
As a publisher, your main responsibility will be to run the ads sent to you by the ezine ad program. Have a clear system in place to accept ads as they arrive. I suggest setting up a specific email address for ads, or use email rules to send the ads into a specific folder so they do not get lost. Be sure to check that email box or folder regularly to make sure you keep up to date with ads. Once an ad arrives, be sure to have a method to promptly confirm the ad. This gives the subscriber peace of mind and makes you look professional. A good rule of thumb would be to have an auto response that immediately confirms the ad and then follow up with a personal response as to the scheduled date. This will further put the subscriber at ease to know that a real human has looked at their order.

3. Ad Section of Your Ezine:
Many co-ops will need to ensure that your ezine is set up to run classified ads in a clear and presentable manner. It is not difficult to set up an ad section that will fill this requirement:

  • If your ezine is run in plain text: Create a divider in the text with a special character such as ====, between articles. Add a heading of the co-op the ads are coming from and make sure it is in a highly visible area of your ezine. This will show that you respect the subscribers that are joining through the co-op and it may encourage the subscriber to further their advertising relationship with you.
  • Online: Have a classified ads section (same ideas as the plain text version), or page. In your email broadcast make sure you have a clear link to that page along with an incentive to click it. It is encouraged to distinguish what program the ads originated so the new member of your list can easily find their ad.

Joining an ad co-op can benefit both publishers and advertisers. Fostering a relationship through a co-op can lead to a very strong customer in the future. If you take a few minutes to organize your ezine in a manner that accepts classified ads, you can enter a co-op feeling confident that the program will welcome you and that you will present your ezine in a strong professional manner.

The Ezine Ad Team is the easiest and most efficient way to participate in an Ezine Ad Co-op today. Focused on bringing quality, targeted ezines and advertisers together, we are a different kind of co-op.
  • Our ezines are always current and up to date. The ezines you see are still actively accepting advertisers. Publishers must update their subscriber details at least every 60 days or our system automatically removes them from view.
  • We allow the advertiser to choose which ezines they want to join based on category, budget and subscriber counts. By not grouping ezines togeter, both groups receive a targeted audience.
  • Memebers are in complete control of ads and ezines via our automated control panel.
See for yourself how easy it can be to grow your ezine list or run your ad in multiple targeted ezines.
