Many business owners who venture into ezine advertising are quick to learn that there is a bit of a skill involved to writing and submitting effective ezine ads. At first glace you may think that all you need is a business to advertise and a bit of a creative streak to write a catchy ad. You may not understand that with a few tools to assist you with ad writing, you could be on your way to a more successful ad campaign. These three tools are highly recommended: 1. Ad Tracker: Tracking what type of response you get from your ad is mandatory if you ever want to know your return on investment. Without it you will never know if that particular ad produced any sales or if it even triggered any hits to your website. You will never know which ezines have readers responsive to your ad or if you are simply just throwing your money away. Ad tracking can come in a couple of forms. One form of tracking is where you enter your link into an ad tracking website and it produces a tracking link that you place in your ad. It will count the number of hits and allow you to see the totals. Some ad trackers will track more information than others. Some track clicks only, some allow you to enter cost per click, and other details. Google the term ‘ad tracker’ for a list of sites that offer that service. Another way to track ads to install code directly on your website that tracks where your visitors come from. This option is a little bit harder to implement and requires that you have access to the source code of the website. Obviously this option would not be available for affiliate sites, but it is a good option for webmasters. 2. Landing Page (Squeeze Page): If you want to covert clicks from your ad into leads, having a landing page is a very useful tool. A landing page is a webpage that offers valuable information from you to readers in exchange for their contact information. This can be a very useful tool to building a responsive optin list. If you have a website, you can build your own landing page. Simply search for a few examples to discover just how an effective page is built. Remember that your main goal is to not allow the viewer to progress any further into the site or to learn any further information until the contact information is collected. In the case where you do not own your own website, you can search for squeeze page generators or companies that design pages for you. The small investment will be useful in gaining customers. 3. Optin List Manger: While a free option to list management is to simply collect names and store them either in a spreadsheet or in your address book, there are other methods that will allow the management of your optin list to be much easier. There are companies that manage email lists, ezines and newsletters or there are software packages that you can install on your computer that allow for easier list management as well. Each option has its pros and cons and only you will be able to decide which is best for you. Just be aware that once you choose a method of list management, moving your list may be a challenge, so try to research what features you seek before you get too far along. Losing a large portion of your subscribers is not uncommon if the new list management system requires a new confirmation from the subscriber to import into the new list. If you use these tools when submitting your ads, you benefit in several ways. First, you will stretch your ad budget by knowing exactly where your money is going. Second, you will also be collecting leads with your landing page and optin list. This allows you to maintain a relationship much longer with the viewer that simply sending them to a website for a click. Try these tools out the next time you submit an ad see just how much more of a response you get from running your ad. ©2009 Ezine Advertising Team, All Rights Reserved.
